Jenny Pike designs and crafts fashion purses here in Whangarei.

After two years of extensive research into what women want for a purse, she has combined the functions of a familiar wallet with that of a woman’s purse.

It is imperative that the purses look impressive and are a pleasure to touch – so great importance is placed on leather quality and colour. Jenny is using her artistic talent to produce original, highly skilful designs on the purses. The current range reflects images loved in New Zealand and recognized internationally.

In her purpose-built workshop, machines of substance and quality are used to cut, split, press and stitch leather. Each purse is put together by hand.
The handbag/purse/wallet all in one is cleverly designed to fit all of your cards arranged in innovative triangular pockets, a section in the middle for your coins, a small pocket for your lipstick and a space for a cell phone, compact glasses, note book and pen.  This is all easy to access and great for women with disabilities.  It can easily be worn across the body for extra security.

Another great aspect of Jenny’s designs is the truly New Zealand themed production.  Jenny buys her leather from tanneries around the country including the Tasman tannery in Wanganui for cow hide and New Zealand light leathers in Timaru for deerskin.  The linings include the use of pigskin which gets printed at hot printz in Whangarei

The purses are made with a lot of love and attention and Jenny is proud of the fact that she is making a product that isn’t mass produced and one that is extremely useful.
