Pewter ware

Roz hails from Australia, Hugh from Russell.

They met in Russia on their respective O.Es. 43 years ago, married and now live in Russell.

Hugh was a skipper on cruise vessels in the Bay Of Islands and Roz was a High school Science teacher.  In 1981 they bought a wood turning business making kitchenware from native NZ timbers – rimu, kauri, rewarewa.  After 16 years they sold that and went back to their respective skippering and teaching jobs.
In 2000 they bought Antiquities, and now they are both retired from their career jobs to concentrate on their pewter jewellery and giftware manufacturing business.
They design new products, have the products cast in pewter and electroplated in Auckland (hence the 100% NZ made) and then they do all the hand polishing and finishing.  They are very selective as to which shops they supply in order to keep the products special and rather unique.

It is a business they take great pride in and enjoy working together as a team.

Roz also does stained glass work – sculptures, pictures, and commission windows.  She learnt to do this when they bought an old house in Russell which needed some stain glass windows to “finish it off” after a major renovation.
