I was born in Matakana and educated in Warkworth.
My teenage years and early twenties were spent nursing at Cornwall Hospital, Warkworth Cottage Hospital, and Hastings Memorial Hospital.

After marrying, my husband and I managed large Lands and Survey stations developing these back country areas. During this time we had 5 daughters, all who have developed a love of art and have grandchildren of their own.

My interests have been varied, gardening, photography, all fibre related crafts including sewing, embroidery and knitting. My love of wool and spinning led me to experimenting with dyes and colour.

For many years I have concentrated and enjoyed silk dying, pushing the boundaries with colour and design. the unique 'Paua' effect I am able to achieve is a result of many hours of studying the effect of dyes working together in different climatic conditions.

Since the 70's I have attended many workshops on textile dying, screenprinting, and various other mediums. I enjoy passing on my knowledge and have found conducting workshops to be rewarding experiences.

Entering exhibitions give me the opportunity to challenge further and further experimentation, leading to new colour-ways and designs in my creations.
